Team America DVD Cover

I wanted to like this movie. Really, I did. I’ve been a huge fan of South Park for years, but I should have known better. The only movie that Matt and Trey made that I’ve liked was the South Park movie.

Sure, there’s a lot of obscene language. Sure, there’s puppet sex. And lots of jabs at actors, terrorists, the US, etc. etc. etc. None of it is particularly funny. South Park thrives on its biting satire and social commentary - Team America has overblown theme songs and explosions instead.

I didn’t totally dislike the movie - it has its moments. Kim Jong Il is probably the best character in the movie, and I love his song about being "ronery". Still, I’m glad I didn’t see it in the theater, and I almost want my $2.99 rental fee back.
